With a distinguished background in phytopathology, she has paved the way for women in science, serving as the first female president of the Science Association of Nigeria (SAN) and the West African Science Association (WASA). Her books, A Wondering Wanderer and The Little Wanderer, reflect her deep curiosity about life and the world, blending scientific insight with a gift for narrative that inspires readers of all ages.
Throughout her career, Dr. Given has taught multiple branches of biology at Chicago State University, guided countless students, and contributed to scientific knowledge through her published research in renowned journals. She is a fellow of both the Science Association of Nigeria (FSAN) and the Botanical Society of Nigeria (FBSN), as well as a proud member of the American Phyto-pathological Society (APS) and the Mycological Society of America.
