JoAnn Fastoff is an award-winning author of fiction and non-fiction whose work spans literature, theater, and television. Recently featured in the 2025 Marquis Who’s Who, her literary portfolio includes the novel The Fury, which received a 2024 five-star review from ReadersView, and the memoir Two Years of Heaven, which earned honorable mentions from the Chicago Writers Association and the Phillis Wheatley New York Book Review.
Her contributions to the performing arts include producing three one-act plays Off-Off-Broadway and directing the jazz program Live from the Warehouse for PBS affiliates. Throughout her career, she has written for major publications in Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia, served as a publicist for Kool & the Gang, and interviewed over 100 notable figures, including B.B. King and Gordon Parks.
Fastoff’s background is defined by a unique family history involving immigration from Kyiv and migration from Alabama, which informs her current work as an environmental activist. A mother and grandmother, she now divides her time between Chicago and Mexico.
