LeCreasha Randall is a creator at heart. Whether she’s in the kitchen whipping up good food, lost in the rhythm of a musical jam session, or cultivating thought-provoking ideas in her mind, she sees it as a reflection of her design. “That’s just how God made me,” she says.
While she has spent her life nurturing others, she thanks God and credits choice confidants and her two “beautiful seeds” and her daughter-in-love for being constant instructors. To LeCreasha, the kids have always been the teachers, guiding her even from the time they were young.
Her journey includes what she playfully calls her “When I Grow Up degree”—an Associates in General Studies from Cochise College in Arizona. That, among other things, led to a life of service, including a couple of years in the U.S. Army and an 18-year career from which she eventually retired at the VA. She’s walked through the fires of two divorces, maintaining a grounded perspective on the past: “I’m sure they’re fine without me,” she notes with a touch of candid wit.
The acceptance LeCreasha carries today was hard-won. After surviving an extremely abusive childhood, she ran away at 18, fueled by a singular mission: vindication. She was hell-bent on exposing her abusers at any cost, a path that led toward a dangerous level of self-destruction.
Everything shifted when she stopped fighting. After “many heart wrenching talks with Jesus,” she surrendered her own will and began to truly listen. She credits God’s love for her intervening and keeping her from spiraling further, transforming her heart in the process.
LeCreasha isn’t sharing her story to dwell on the hurt or the wrongs of the past. Instead, she shares it as a witness to the blessings she received and the change that took place within her. It wasn’t an overnight transformation; it’s a steady, ongoing work of grace.
She remains a work in progress, resting in the fact that while she has come a long way, God is still very much “on the job.”
